David Serra, a teacher in Barcelona who runs the tournaments in Spain (I worked with him at the tournament in Tokyo 2 years ago), sent these along. David will be in Atlanta with the Spanish champion next week for the World Festival.

The Adventures of Robo-Jones…

The AMNH (American Museum of Natural History) in NYC is having a parent & child (3rd-5th graders) workshop to learn about the cultures of the ancient Mayan, Aztec, & Olmec cultures; and then each Parent-child team collaborates in designing, building, & programming NXT robots to simulate exploring an ancient temple on an archaeological dig to collect artifacts.

The instructor, Veryl Greene – former FLL coach, has been teaching “Robots in Space” at the museum, where kids learn about the Rovers that explored the Moon & Mars, then they design, build, & program their own robots with Mindstorms NXT kits.

The workshop is scheduled for April 11, 18, & 25th, 2010 from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Space is limited. To learn more about the workshop & sign-up contact Siva Ramakrishnan:
