World Maker Faire at the NY Hall of Science

Jeanne Boyarsky and I are attempting to pull together a coalition of FIRST FRC Teams for the World Maker Faire at the NY Hall of Science at the end of September. Please read the email below and forward it far and wide. I would definitely be interested in getting the FLL and FTC teams on board, but wanted to start small with the FRC teams.

Warm regards,

Dear FRC Teams,

As volunteers at the 2010 NYC Regional, it was a pleasure meeting and helping each and every one of your teams as your robots, drivers, spotters and human players made their way onto the competition field.

We're writing to let you know that the World Maker Faire (http://makerfaire.com/newyork/2010/callformakers/) is taking place on September 25th and 26th, 2010 at the New York Hall of Science in Queens, NY and guess what? The event organizers are looking for participants.

This event could serve as a wonderful community outreach project/recruitment tool for FIRST teams from across the tri-state area.

We would like to see if your team is interested in participating and, if so, we would enjoy coordinating a coalition of teams to introduce the general public to FIRST and FRC. (Imagine having a Breakaway field and teams scrimmaging against one another in addition to information stations and activities for spectators.)

The "Call For Makers" is already underway and, with the end of the school year rapidly approaching, time is of the essence.

Fill out this Google Form to let us know if your team is interested and to provide us with contact information. We're looking to set up a wiki and/or a meeting to generate some ideas once we determine which teams would be interested in taking part.

Please feel free to forward this email to any teams you think might be interested and contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Warm regards,

Norm Sutaria
